Melbourne-based artist Alex Vivian invites the viewer to closely inspect seemingly private experiments with marks, form and gestures created by the male body.
Through an installation of discarded men's apparel his work explores the residue a body leaves behind. Much like the GAP 'distresses' its denim to attain the 'worn in ' look, Vivian bleaches, buries, stains with butter and even sands with an electric sander men's clothing evoking ideas of presence and/ or the friction of bodies.
